I can't believe there was a 2 week gap between my wordless wednesdays... geez, they really flew by!! The husband was off of work for 9 days and let's just say, they didn't exactly go as planned. Let me take you back to the beginning.
We decided (2 weeks ago exactly) to go to the park. It was a beautiful Thursday. The birds were chirping, the sun was out, and the kids were hungry. So we went to a little sandwich shop by our house (it's called Alicia's and its definitely "to-die-for" for all of you orange county peeps). I digress. So we went and got some of our favorite sammy's to share (tuna and roast beef), coupled with apples and homemade treaties that they serve with their meals. (total yum.) Anyway, we packed up the kiddos and grabbed a quick lunch to take with us to this AMAZING, ginormous, regional park that I never even knew existed by our house. So we get there, park, get the kiddies out and make our way down a very long and steep hill to a spot where we casually eat our lunch. No biggie, it was delish. (as expected). When we finished, the infant (not really an infant anymore :( *tear*) started chasing the ducks and the toddler found the slides (they have A TON). I got on the kiddie gym thingy to help him and down he slid. As I looked to the side, I noticed the infant was completely stuck in the sand so I started making my way down to her to help her. Now, let me tell you now.... I've always been kind of lurpy. Not like, my limbs are abnormally long or my feet are like skiis or anything totally ridiculous, but I've always been like "the chick that fell" or "the broad that tripped over nothing". You know. So I go to step off of the kiddie gym thing and the turf was TOTALLY softer than expected. I thought I'd be stepping off onto, oh i dunno, the ground?? No. It was like this totally soft, squishy turfy thing. Now the husband thinks he needs to point out that in order for me to get onto the kiddie gym, I had to walk on the turfy stuff so I
should have known that it was soft. whatever. I forgot. So on top of being a total lurp, I'm also 7 months pregnant and the size of a large condo. So I stepped down, and yes folks, I ate it. big time. Not just like a little tumble or a "oh let me help you up" kind of fall. Like an "OMIGOD it's for sure, without a doubt, broken". So I'm kind of freaking out but in so much pain I can't even cry, the toddler's trying to help me up while saying "it's okay mommy, it's okay" and the infant is still stuck in the sand. So I couldn't move and as I mentioned before, our car was up a HUGE hill that I could not even try to climb. The husband had to wrangle up both kids and try to get me help. He FINALLY found a guy riding around on a cart who said... dun, dun, dun... "he couldn't help me because I'm a liability." What did he do??? Called me an ambulance. Yes folks, I rode in an ambulance. It was my first time and while it wasn't exactly what was planned for the day, it really worked out. The husband was able to take the kids home and call his mom to meet him there to watch the kids, and he was able to meet me at the hospital. After a TON of questions and a much debated x-ray (because of the pregnancy), they said it was not broken, but a grade 3 sprain. I've rolled my ankle countless times and sprained it throughout my life, but NEVER like this. It happened 2 weeks ago and I am just now able to "walk" on it. From the tops of my toes to half way up my calf is still badly bruised but it is feeling better. The worst part was that we were scheduled to leave for San Diego 4 days after the injury and had to re-schedule the entire thing. The Doubletree only agreed to switch our reservation with proof of it being a medical emergency because we had booked non-refundable rooms. Goes to show you that the old saying rings true: "If you really want to make God laugh, tell him your plans."
So after 5 hours at the hospital (ER and L&D to check on the baby who is fine btw), everything has started to settle down. The husbands 9 days off FLEW BY and we really didn't do much of anything. He really stepped up to the plate and kept this ship functioning while I was out for the count. If you're reading this, thanks babe. I couldn't do it without you.
Ok so I totally taped MTV's 16 and Pregnant and am dying to watch some junk tv before bed. Goodnight bloggies.
